Rev. Anna Mosby

Senior Pastor

The Rev. Anna E. Mosby is an ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church and has served in ordained ministry for over 20 years. A third generation AME, she was born and raised in Nebraska and has spent most of her adult life living in Prince Georges County, Maryland. Rev. Anna accepted God’s call while an active member of Hemingway Memorial AME Church, under the pastoral leadership of her father-in-ministry, the late Rev. Dr. William Robert Porter. As Minister to Women, she supervised the Women’s Ministry leadership team; coordinated countless women’s retreats, revivals, and monthly fellowships; facilitated workshops; and empowered all to excel through the power of Jesus Christ. She also served at Union Bethel AME Church under the leadership of her spiritual father, the (now) Bishop Harry L. Seawright. As Coordinator of the North Location, she was responsible for all ministry services and events and supervised all administrative functions.

Pastor Mosby is the former Pastor of the historic Mt. Gilboa AME Church in Catonsville, MD. Under her leadership, the church was awarded $135,000 from the Maryland African American Heritage Preservation Program for restoration of the church building. She also served as the Senior Pastor of St. Jude AME Church in Germantown, MD. She was the first woman to pastor this growing congregation and implemented several new ministries to address the needs and concerns of church and community. In July 2022, Bishop James L. Davis, Servant Bishop of the Second Episcopal District, appointed Rev. Mosby as the Pastor of St. Paul AME Church in Washington, DC.

Rev. Mosby serves as President of the Second Episcopal District AME Women in Ministry (AME/WIM), the official professional organization for women pursuing excellence in ministry in the AME Church. She specifically provides guidance and support to over 700 clergywomen in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and the District of Columbia. Rev. Mosby also serves on several AME District- and Conference-level committees and is an instructor in the Washington Conference Board of Examiners, training candidates for ordination.

Her extensive corporate experience includes senior management positions in several national consulting organizations. She has successfully managed multimillion-dollar engagements for the states of Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, the District of Columbia, and Chicago Public Schools. She has recommended and implemented best practices, developed and conducted training, and supervised project staff. She was also Investment Manager for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro), managing a $500 million investment portfolio.

Rev. Anna is CEO of Anna Mosby Consulting, LLC, which offers clients the strategies and tools to Lead with Power & Purpose. She is a contributing author of the best seller, Dear Fear: 20 Powerful Lessons on Living Your Best Life on the Other Side of Fear. Her community involvement includes serving on the faculty of Peace Multicultural Theological Seminary, active membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Black Ministers Conference of Montgomery County (Maryland), AME Ministerial Alliance of Washington, DC and Vicinity, and Board Member of the Collective Empowerment Group, Inc.

Rev. Mosby holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (cum laude), with a concentration in Finance, from the University of the District of Columbia; a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University; and a Master of Divinity (with honors) from the Howard University School of Divinity. She is currently pursuing the Doctor of Ministry with an emphasis in Pastoral Care at McCormick Theological Seminary (Chicago, IL).

Rev. Anna’s most joyful roles are proud mother of two daughters and one son-in-love; and grandmother to four “jewels” (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Delon II, and Deilyn), who hold her heart. In life and ministry, she relies on one of her favorite passages of scripture, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
